Respect

Sports coaching and coaching roles are valued in sport and society. The importance of coaches in individual and human development is recognised and acknowledged.

Communities

Safe coaching communities that support participation foster a strong sense of belonging, enabling every coach to be seen, heard, and to develop together with others.

Responsibility

Coaching is based on ethics, fairness and long-term commitment. Coaches’ wellbeing, equality and a sustainable sporting culture are essential.

People-centred approach

Coaching is first and foremost about encountering people. Activities respect individuality and strengthen athletes’ participation.

High standards

Quality coaching belongs to everyone. Commitment, ambition and quality ensure a strong standard of coaching at all levels.

Developing competence

Continuous learning and shared expertise drive coaching forward. Competence grows through knowledge, education and experience.

Core Tasks

Strengthening the Coaching Community

We offer coaches and others involved in coaching a meaningful and participatory community that supports development, wellbeing and peer support. We strengthen belonging through events, encounters and member services. We create added value for members by offering benefits that cannot be found elsewhere.

Promoting Coaching and Sports Culture

We increase the appreciation of coaching and coaches in Finnish sport and society. We influence coaching conditions so that quality and standards remain high. We promote a people-centred, responsible and equitable coaching culture.

Gathering, Developing and Sharing Coaching Knowledge

We provide high-quality, practical education and opportunities for continuous learning at all levels of sport. We build social learning communities and support networking as part of learning. We collect and share research-based knowledge and best practices nationally and internationally.

Partnership as the Foundation of Our Work

The Finnish Coaches Association works in close cooperation with actors within sport and with organisations influencing sport. Impact is created through partnerships that support coaches’ development, wellbeing and appreciation.
